X-Varco — Privacy Policy

In one sentence

X-Varco does not collect, transmit or sell any personal data. Everything the app processes stays on the user's Mac.

Network connection metadata (app, destination, port, protocol, outcome): processed by the firewall extension exclusively on the device to apply your rules and show you flows, history, report card and map. It never leaves the Mac.
Rules and settings: stored locally, on the device.
The Mac's location (optional, subject to the system permission): used only to draw the "My Mac" dot on the map. It is not stored elsewhere or transmitted.
IP address geolocation: performed with a DB-IP database embedded in the app; no address is ever sent to external services.

Geolocation database update: the app periodically downloads the new edition of the database from db-ip.com. The request contains no personal data.
Optional "Explain" feature: if the user enables it by entering their own Anthropic API key, the metadata of the single selected flow (app, destination, port, outcome) is sent to the Anthropic API to generate the explanation. Without a key, the feature is off and nothing is sent. The key is stored locally only.

No account, no registration, no identifiers.
No usage analytics, no tracking, no advertising.
No communication content is read: the firewall sees flow metadata, not the data being transmitted.
No data is shared with or sold to third parties.
